G.A.R. Senior Darrell Crawford Wins Edsel Award

Darrell Crawford attends a tough inner city school in Wilkes-Barre. Grand Army of the Republic High School, known as GAR has won two consecutive District 2 championships. Darrell has lined up at quarterback, wide receiver, cornerback, kick returner and punt returner for the Grenadiers. The numbers speak for themselves, Crawford accounted for 39 touchdowns – 32 rushing, 3 on kick returns, 2 punt returns and 2 interception returns. Crawford threw for 12 scores and rushed for 1,834 yards. He is a dazzling open field runner and is like tackling smoke when he is out in space. Crawford excels in the classroom and is a National Honor Society member. The Edsel Award is about more than athleticism. Character and academics translate into leadership. These are the qualities that made Darrell The 12th Man Show Pennsylvania Player Of The Year.

12th Man Show Week 15 Preview

The season finale of the 12th Man Show kicks off with back to back newbies as we welcome in Andy Ulicny of Classic Hits 103.5 and Keith Barnes of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. Andy recaps Southern Columbia/Penns Manor and Keith tackles Clairton/Sharpsville. One of the most anticipated rematches Friday night is Allentown Central Catholic and Archbishop Wood. Havenfootball.nets Brian Carroll is back to analyze this one. On the other side of the Class AAA bracket is D3 champ Bishop McDevitt and D7 champ Montour. Andy Shay from the Patriot News gives us his take on the western final from Altoona. Shay also previews the Class AAAA western final as Central Dauphin takes on defending champion North Allegheny. Other Saturday previews by Jeff Reinhart (Lancaster Catholic vs West Catholic), Matt Farago (Tyrone vs Aliquippa), & Armand Vanore (LaSalle vs North Penn) round out the rest of the show. We also get a visit from the Funkster, Josh Funk to give us his state final predictions. Next week the Prep Nation Radio crew treks down to Hershey. We will have a live blog chat of every game and Friday night at 1030.

Now that we are all stuffed with turkey its time for some high school football. Week thirteen of the 12th Man Show as we step closer to Hershey. This week we bring back Rockin Rod Frisco as we talk District 3 football. Keeping it in the district, Josh Funk recaps the AA final as Wyomissing battles Lancaster Catholic in chocolate town. The Godfather, Armand Vanore gives us his take on Garnet Valley/Council Rock South and previews Calvary Christian and Pius X. EasternPAFootball.com’s David Mika, Jr. stops by to report on the defending AAA state champs in Allentown Central Catholic. The Vikings take on District 2 champion Valley View. Fox Sports Radio The Game’s Josh Klingerman travels down to the silver bowl to watch Mount Carmel host Bloomsburg. We get his wrap-up on this one. Eddie Walker will give us an in-studio rundown of Pen Argyl and Wilkes-Barre GAR. Moving out west we turn to the man in the northwest corner of the state. Tom Reisenweber of the Erie Times News talks some District 10 football including Cathedral Prep/Grove City and General McLane/Hickory. We march closer to chocolate town as the 12th Man Show reaches week 12. We start off with the godfather, Armand Vanore as he recaps Neshaminy at North Penn. All season C93 FM in Clarion has been simulcasting our show and we give some love to District 9. Dustin Kifer returns to talk Karns City and Moniteau. District 4 Class A has been owned by Southern Columbia for many years. This week they try for yet another district title against Line Mountain. ESPN 92.3′s Chris Schmouder gives us his take on this matchup. Our District 6 guru, Doug Keklak, is back to preview Saturday’s Class AAA subregional Clearfield and Johnstown. We are just getting started as we welcome newcomer Paul Roberts of WEEU 830AM Berks County with a report from Birdsboro on Wilson West Lawn and Daniel Boone. Backyard rivals Old Forge and Riverside battle for the District 2 Class A title. Blue Devil Coach Michael Schuback calls in for our Coach Speak segment. The Funkster Josh Funk makes an appearance to analyze Lewisburg at Mount Carmel. HighSchoolSports.net’s Matt Farago gives us a wrap-up on the Class AAA WPIAL Semifinal Montour and Central Valley. The Edsel Award, in its 3rd year, is given to one player from any part of the commonwealth. Previous winners were Ryan Keiser of Selinsgrove (2009) and Derek Buganza of Brockway (2010).
